How To Use Generative Fill in Photoshop 2024 Tutorial

Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting out, this tutorial will walk you through the process of using Generative Fill like a true artist.
Step 1: Choose Your Area
To begin, select the area where you want to unleash your creative vision. Simply use any selection tool from the toolbar to accurately outline the desired region. Whether it’s a simple shape or a complex object, ensure your selection encompasses the area you wish to work on.
Step 2: Access Generative Fill
Once your selection is made, it’s time to tap into the power of Generative Fill. Head to the Edit menu at the top of the screen and choose “Generative Fill” from the dropdown menu. Alternatively, you can right-click within the selected area and opt for “Fill” from the context menu, then select “Generative” as the fill type.
Step 3: Prompt
Once you’re done, you will encounter a prompt to input your desired creation. Simply type in your idea, such as “Dog,” and witness it spring to life.
Step 4: Refine Your Design
Once the initial output appears, you can refine your design further by selecting specific areas of the generative image to regenerate. For instance, if the dog’s leg looks odd, you can regenerate that portion. Generative Fill typically provides three designs by default, so repeat this step until you’re satisfied with the outcome.
And there’s all there is to it. You’ve now become a generative fill master!
