White lines or fringes can sometimes appear when cutting out an object from its background in Adobe Photoshop. These fringes are caused by a difference in the chromatic value between the object and the background. Fortunately, they can be easily removed with a few simple steps:

Step 1 – Open image
Step 2 – Right click Layer and select Pixels
Step 3 – Select > Modify > Contract
Step 4 – Select 3 to 5 pixels depending on the size of your fringe and press “ok”
Step 5 – Duplicate Layer. Shortcut (Cmd|Ctrl + J
Step 6 – Hide or delete original layer to reveal new layer
Congratulations you’ve now removed the fringe!
With these steps, you can easily remove white lines or fringes from a cut-out object in Photoshop and improve the overall quality of your image. Keep in mind that the defringing feature works best when there is a clear contrast between the object and the background.
